Santa Clara Law Hires Two New Faculty Members

Santa Clara University School of Law is excited to announce the hire of two new faculty members, who will start in the Fall 2022 semester. Sean Bland will be joining us from Georgetown University where he currently serves as a Senior Associate with the Infectious Disease Initiative at the O’Neill Institute at Georgetown. Taylor Dalton will be joining us from the University of Southern California where he is presently a doctoral candidate in the school’s political science and international relations program. Each comes with a wealth of experience and subject matter expertise. Read more.

Julia OlsonJulia Olson of Our Children’s Trust Awarded 2022 Katharine & George Alexander Law Prize

Julia Olson, founder, Executive Director, and Chief Legal Counsel of Our Children’s Trust, a non-profit public interest law firm that provides strategic, campaign-based legal services to youth from diverse backgrounds to secure their legal rights to a safe climate system has been named the recipient of the 2022 Katharine & George Alexander Law Prize on account of her contributions to this important area of legal practice. Northern California Innocence Project

Santa Clara Law’s Northern California Innocence Project Turns 20

For two decades, the non-profit that opened its doors at Santa Clara University School of Law in the fall of 2001 has been exonerating the innocent, educating future attorneys, and reforming criminal justice policy. The 33 wrongly-convicted California inmates freed by the work of NCIP served a combined total of 480 years by the time they were freed.

Dean Michael J. KaufmanDean Michael J. Kaufman Recognized for his Contributions to the Legal Profession and Jesuit Education

Dean Kaufman was presented with the Medal of Excellence by Loyola University Chicago’s Alumni Board of Governors in recognition of his distinguished service to the legal profession and for his loyalty and service to LUC’s School of Law. He also was inducted into Alpha Sigma Nu, the honor society of Jesuit colleges and universities, upon the nomination of LUC’s President and Administration. Read more.
