Andrei Iancu

Andrei Iancu is the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and the Director of the USPTO. Director Iancu provides leadership and oversight to one of the largest IP offices in the world with more than 12,000 employees and an annual budget exceeding $3 billion. He also serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary of Commerce on domestic and international IP matters.

Director Iancu will discuss the priorities of the USPTO, especially as they relate to improving the predictability of IP rights, and the integration of artificial intelligence to assist patent examiners in their research related to patent applications.

Director Iancu is a Star Trek fan and a lover of stories about inventors and their inventions. He was born in Bucharest, Romania and has lived in the US since age 12.
