SANTA CLARA LAW PROGRAMS HELP CREATE INNOVATIVE STARTUPS
The High Tech Law Institute (HTLI) at Santa Clara Law is at the vanguard of legal education in “high tech law,” the legal issues associated with developing and commercializing new technologies. One such emerging technology is IP Analytics, a process that helps companies make better IP-related decisions. Graduates of HTLI are leading companies, like ClearAccessIP and TurboPatent, that help their clients assess the IP landscape and find gold needles in the haystacks of data.
In a few days, you will receive an invitation from HTLI. The invitation contains a commemorative coin announcing the
launch of Patent.pm, a sort of stock market for betting on the validity of patents. Each coin has a unique QR code that grants you access to a new Ethereum wallet containing 100,000 units of IP Gold, a utility token. For help on accessing your IP Gold, visit https://wallet.patent.pm/redeem. You can use your IP Gold to predict whether a particular patent is viable or invalid or otherwise unenforceable. You can engage interested students by sharing your IP Gold so they can review and assess patents. If you teach patent law, you can create an assignment that incorporates IP Gold.
IP Logic Team: Tyler Seymour, CEO; David Garson, CTO; Campbell Yore, CPO |
The company launching the Patent.pm platform, IP Logic, was founded by HTLI graduates. IP Logic was a client of the Entrepreneurs’ Law Clinic, a HTLI program. Students taking the clinic work with real Silicon Valley start-up clients to solve real problems.

When your invitation arrives, scan the QR code on the back of the coin to access your new Ethereum wallet. We hope you share your IP Gold with your students and share examples of how you incorporated IP Gold into your class with the community of IP law professors. Please send your IP Gold stories to HTLI@scu.edu.
