Joy Baker Peacock, Managing Director of Santa Clara Law’s High Tech Law Institute, will join the newly opened United States Patent and Trademark Office in San Jose as its Regional Outreach Officer on October 5, 2015.  Joy worked with the Silicon Valley Leadership Coalition to bring the USPTO to San Jose, and has continued to work closely with the USPTO Silicon Valley office to connect it to Santa Clara University and our wider intellectual property and entrepreneurial community.  In her new role as Regional Outreach Officer, Joy will broaden the scope of this work by becoming the principal advisor for outreach to USPTO Silicon Valley Regional Director John Cabeca, developing the office’s regional outreach plan, and directing the public-facing regional office facility at its new home in the San Jose City Hall Annex.

Joy joined the High Tech Law Institute in 2011 and during her tenure played a key role in launching many initiatives, including the Entrepreneurs’ Law Clinic and the Privacy Law Certificate.  She also helped the HTLI reach new heights through the production of conferences and events, fundraising and outreach, alumni and student relations and leadership within the university and in the community.

Please join us in thanking her and wishing her the best in this new role.
