The Skill of Ethical Lawyering

Course Description:

This course presents an experiential opportunity for students co-enrolled in Professional Responsibility to engage in simulation exercises that reinforce the California and ABA rules of professional conduct learned each week.  Students will review substantive material covered in Professional Responsibility the week before, and engage in simulation exercises that require students to grapple with the nuances and difficult issues presented to practicing attorneys.  Students who are not actively engaged in a simulation will provide feedback to their peers.  Students must be co-enrolled in either section of Professional Responsibility, or if you have already completed Professional Responsibility.  While there are no prerequisites, courses including Negotiating, Client Counseling, Mediation, and Arbitration will prove helpful.  Attendance is mandatory for each class session.
