The Santa Clara University School of Law will be hosting the Second Annual “Celebration of Culture” on Friday, October 17, 2003.  This event will again benefit the Thurgood Marshall Alumni Scholarship Fund.  Introduced in 1993, this scholarship was created to provide tuition support for law students who intend to pursue a legal career in the promotion of equality, inclusion, and social justice.

Last year, the Thurgood Marshall Alumni Scholarship Committee accepted the challenge of Mack A. Player, former Dean of the School of Law, who agreed to match funds raised, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000.  We are proud to announce that as a result of the collaboration, the Fund is now permanently endowed, having raised in excess of $50,000.  We are seeking the support of alumni and friends of the School of Law to continue in this tradition of excellence.

To that end, we want to take this opportunity to invite you to our second fundraising event scheduled for Friday, October 17, 2003, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  The fundraiser will bring together dance and musical performances to be followed by a wine and cheese reception.  The event will take place at Santa Clara University at the Recital Hall in the Music and Dance Facility on‑campus.  Tickets may be purchased prior to the event for $25.00 per person, or purchased at the door for $30.00 per person.  Donations are welcomed!

To purchase tickets or to make a donation, please contact Jeanette J. Leach, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Diversity Services, 408-554-5470 or jleach@scu.edu

On behalf of the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund Committee, Santa Clara University School of Law, and its faculty, staff, students, and alumni, we thank you for your support.
