Santa Clara Law alumna and associate clinical professor, Linsey Krolik ’00 J.D./MBA has been named co-supervisor of Santa Clara Law’s Privacy Law Certificate. Professor Eric Goldman will continue to serve as co-supervisor alongside Prof. Krolik.
Santa Clara Law’s pioneering Privacy Law Certificate program was named one of 10 most innovative law programs in the country by Bloomberg Law in 2023. The Privacy Law Certificate is a rigorous program designed for students who want to specialize in privacy law. It requires students to complete specific coursework; work in a privacy job; publish a paper on privacy; and obtain an International Association of Privacy Professionals certification.
Krolik is an associate clinical professor in Santa Clara Law’s Entrepreneurs’ Law Clinic, where she helps oversee law students as they advise entrepreneurs. She is also director of the interdisciplinary Bronco Entrepreneurs Advisory Clinic Hours (BEACH), where she trains volunteer attorneys and students to counsel clients seeking legal advice for startups. And, she is assistant director in the Tech Edge JD program, an experiential certificate program for law students interested in working in technology law. Prior to her role at Santa Clara Law, Krolik worked in-house leading privacy programs and product counseling at PayPal and BILL.
In November of 2022, Krolik was tapped by the California Board of Legal Specialization to be on the 13-member Consulting Group on the Establishment of a Legal Specialization in Privacy Law (“Privacy Law Group”). The group will provide recommendations to the California Board of Legal Specialization about whether to add privacy law as an area where lawyers can publicly identify themselves as specialists.
“Students and our community will benefit greatly from Prof. Krolik’s real-world expertise in privacy law,” said Associate Dean for Research Eric Goldman, co-supervisor of the Privacy Law Certificate and co-director of the High Tech Law Institute. “I am thrilled that Prof. Krolik has agreed to take on this important role, and I am honored by the opportunity to serve alongside her.”
“On behalf of our entire law school community and our many community partners, I want to congratulate Professor Krolik on this well-deserved honor,” said Santa Clara Law Dean Michael Kaufman. “I also wish to express our collective gratitude for her leadership in this critical area of the law, which is among our law school’s greatest distinctive strengths.”
