Law Students Volunteering at the Second Harvest Food BankThe Center for Social Justice and Public Service (the Center) is proud to announce our final numbers related to our efforts to celebrate National Pro Bono Week at Santa Clara Law.

The Center had six days of events supported by three law departments and nine law student organizations (LSOs).  Our efforts benefitted four outside nonprofits and two internal organizations.

Our LSOs collected hundreds of items and spent hours of time volunteering.  The Katharine and George Alexander Law Center (KGACLC) led students in pro bono legal services; and the Center led 20 faculty, staff, and students to volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank.  Our efforts at Second Harvest alone resulted in 15,700 pounds of food being sorted, which represents an impact to 12,000 food-insecure members of our community.

The Center would like to recognize KGACLC for their continued leadership, the Office of Career Management (OCM) for hosting the career closet for law students, and the following LSOs for their dedication to the community: LLSA, Street Law, ELS, DLSA, Women in Law, SJC, ILS, EQSCU, and PLA. We want to offer a special thanks to the faculty, staff, and students who volunteered at Second Harvest.  You make all of us proud.
