The Spring 2021 Floating Exam Period will begin Tuesday, May 4th at 9:00AM through May 18th at 9:00PM. This exam period is considerably longer than the fall and will cover 2 weekends.
Daily Exam Administration
Daily administration hours (including weekends) are from 9:00AM-9:00PM Pacific Time. Students may not upload or download exams outside of those administrative hours.
Exam Schedule/Policies
First year students will still have assigned days for their exams, while upper division students have the entire exam period to self-schedule. Click these links to find the final exam schedule and spring exam policies.
Exam Availability
1L Students: Your exam will populate at exactly 9:00AM PT on each of your exam days. It will not be listed any sooner. Mark your calendar with your exam dates!
Upper Division: All upper division courses will populate at 9:00AM PT on May 4th, to be taken at a time of student choosing. That means, you will see all of your exams populated on May 4th. Do not enter your password (distributed by cover sheet prior to May 4th) or click start on your exam file unless you are prepared to take your exam. The exam clock cannot be suspended.
Exam Reschedules
By nature, floating exam periods remove administrative exam conflicts as it is up to the student to self-schedule. Do not wait until the last 3 days of the period to take your exams! A reschedule will not be approved due to poor time management.
In the event of a medical emergency, you can fill out the Reschedule Request Form and you will be contacted for supporting documentation as needed.
Disability Accommodations
All Office of Accessible Education Students will receive an email from this office confirming exam arrangements the week of April 26th at the latest.
Technical Issues Law Technology can be reached at (408) 554-5762 and ExamSoft at (866) 429-8889. Based on issues last exam period we recommend the following:
1. Slow Moving Computers:
a.) quit all programs other than Examplify (streaming services mostly-music, video, synced email)
b.) run each type of “Mock Exam” currently available in ExamSoft. The password for all mock exams is bronco5. It is best practice to take the mock exams at the location you plan to take your final exams if possible.
c.) Open/Semi-secured exams; do not cut and paste large amounts of text from your computer into Examplify.
2. Freezing and restart: Make sure your computer and Examplify are updated (Big Sur OK!) Examplify version 2.6.4 (starting April 1st), at least; follow Law Technology best practices for a frozen computer.
3. Technical Delays: If you experience a technical delay in your exam, contact Law Technology immediately to timestamp the issue!
4. Missing Text: Prior to your exam confirm your display settings are not expanded or compressed to ensure you are viewing your ENTIRE exam. Be sure to “scroll” completely through each essay question.
5. Examplify Timers: It is recommended that you also set a personal alarm in addition to the Examplify reminder alarms.
