Pre-Application Checklist
If you’ve already registered for CAS (required to complete your application), applying to Santa Clara Law takes just a few minutes. Here’s what you’ll need to successfully complete your application.
- Take the LSAT or GRE.
- Register with CAS if you haven’t done so. Most students do this when they register to take the LSAT, but you can do it before if you want. Learn more over at the official CAS site.
- Submit a 1-3 page personal statement.
- When you register with CAS, you’ll have the opportunity to upload your resume and submit letters of recommendation.This is optional but highly recommended.
Calendar Dates and Deadlines
Here are important dates related to your Santa Clara Law application.
We review applications and award scholarships on a rolling basis. To support the timely review of your application and to ensure the maximum consideration for scholarships, we recommend applying as early as possible. Important dates are included below:
- Early Action Deadline (non-binding): November 30
- applications submitted by this date will be reviewed before January 15th
- an application is only considered complete when the Law School has received your CAS report (see below)
- applications submitted by this date will be given top consideration for admission and scholarship awards
- Priority Deadline for Cohort Certificate Programs: December 31
- applications submitted by this date will have priority consideration for the Public Interest JD and Tech Edge JD programs
- Priority Deadline for General Admission: February 15
- applications submitted by this date will be given full consideration for admission and scholarship awards for the JD, FlexJD and LLM programs
- Final Deadline for Cohort Certificate Programs: March 31
- applications submitted after this date will no longer be considered for the Public Interest JD and Tech Edge programs
- applications submitted after this date will still be considered for general admission to the JD, FlexJD, and LLM programs
- Final LSAT score accepted: April 2025
- We may consider June 2025 scores on a case by case basis. Contact the LawAdmissions@scu.edu to inquire
Please note: All applicants to the School of Law, including those submitting GRE scores, must register for LSAC’s Credential Assembly Service (CAS). Your file will not be considered complete and will not be reviewed until we receive your CAS report.
