About Fenwick & West

Fenwick was in Silicon Valley when there were more apricots than silicon. As a result of our history and experience, we are deeply integrated in Silicon Valley’s unique ecosystem, not only with entrepreneurs and their companies, but also with venture capitalists and investment bankers who help drive the area’s constant innovation. We represent hundreds of exciting technology and life sciences companies that are redefining commerce, communications, digital health, entertainment and social media.

Fenwick’s commitment to pro bono and community impact work dates back to our founding days. This dedication has only deepened in recent years with the firm’s corporate social responsibility program, one of the first launched by a West coast law firm. The program integrates key CSR components such as the firm’s nationally-recognized and award-winning pro bono work, charitable contributions and volunteerism.

Our CSR program is a call to action for everyone within the firm—partners, associates, and staff members alike—to give of their time and talents so that we can positively impact our communities.

Working at Fenwick

Diversity: For over four decades, Fenwick has been committed to promoting diversity and inclusion, both within the firm and throughout the legal profession.

  • The firm regularly earns recognition for diversity and workplace culture. The American Lawyer and Law360 recently ranked Fenwick as a top law firm for diversity.
  • For the ninth consecutive year, Fenwick has also received a perfect score on The Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for its policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality.
  • The firm has been recognized among the Best Places to Work in the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times and the Silicon Valley Business Journal for more than 10 consecutive years.

Key Recruitment and Retention Initiatives: Fenwick is recognized for its mentoring programs. Associates are assigned confidential advisors on their first day to help guide them through the early years as a Fenwick lawyer. Later, associates enter the Fenwick Professional Development Mentoring Program and work closely with an assigned Fenwick partner or senior associate who helps guide them through an array of professional development choices with an eye to long-term career goals. Midlevel associates also benefit from the expertise of mentoring partners and senior associates through Fenwick University training programs.

Associate Openings: We believe that a diverse workforce in terms of race, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, geographic/cultural background helps us serve our clients better and fosters an environment of cooperation, respect, creativity and mutual understanding in which everyone thrives.

Current openings can be found on Fenwick’s careers pages. Also look for us on campus, as well as at minority bar associations and job fairs.
