Advanced Trial Techniques (Trial Team)

Course Description:

A two-semester course in advanced litigation skills and trial strategy. Selection for this course is based on student performance in a mock litigation exercise. Students participate in numerous exercises, conduct several complete trials, and represent Santa Clara University in two trial competitions during the year. Evening and weekend meetings required.

Class Notes:

Experiential Course.  Enrollment based on tryouts held in Spring 2022. One year, two-semester course beginning in Fall 2022. Students should obtain permission number from instructors. Attendance is mandatory, as well as participation in regional/national competitions – online or in person, depending on restrictions.

Students may earn no more than 8 units of academic credit in all Honors Moot Court and Honors Trial Team activity (including Honors Moot Court Internal, Honors Moot Court External, Honors Trial Team External, and all Honors Moot Court Boards.)   All units are graded CR/NC.

Effective Fall 2021:  Students who complete Advanced Trial Techniques will have two of the five units apply towards this limitation, allowing for six more units in other moot court activities.  Advanced Trial Techniques is a graded course. All other moot court units are graded CR/NC.
