SCU Law Professor Toman Participates in “Webinar” on “Governing the Maelstrom: the Law of International Disaster Response”

A recording and documents from the April 25, 2006, "webinar" entitled  Governing the Maelstrom: the Law of International Disaster Response , co-sponsored by the American Society of International Law (ASIL), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the American Bar Association NGO and Not for Profit Committee of the Section on International Law, is now available for viewing free of charge via ASIL’s web site.

It features presentations by:  Dr. Jiri Toman,  Professor of Law at the Santa Clara University School of Law, on the existing law and gaps in the governance of international disaster response; Dr. Peter Walker, Director of the Feinstein International Famine Center at Tufts University, on standards and mechanisms of humanitarian accountability; and Dr. Raman Letchumanan,  Director of the ASEAN Environment and Disaster Management Unit, on the origins, development and promise of ASEAN’s new disaster management treaty.
