Santa Clara Law is pleased to announce that Sarah Mirza ’15 is the winner of the annual Jan Jancin Award for top intellectual-property law student in the nation.

The award is given by the American Intellectual Property Law Education Foundation (AIPLEF) of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) to the top law student in the nation, who has most excelled in the study of intellectual property law. Sarah is the second Santa Clara Law graduate to receive the award since AIPLEF began awarding it in 1998. Alumna Linda Kahl  Wuestehube won the award in 2010. Sarah will be presented with the award at a luncheon at the ABA Annual Meeting in Chicago on July 31st.

Before enrolling in Santa Clara Law’s part-time program, Sarah received a B.S. in Computer Science and Engineering from MIT and worked as a senior software engineer at Oracle. Her legal career began as a technical advisor for Patterson & Sheridan in Palo Alto, then a patent engineer at Fenwick & West in Mountain View. During her tenure at Santa Clara Law, Sarah won the prestigious Mabie Award for the Outstanding Graduate of her class, was a research assistant for Professor Brian Love, and was a pupil of the William A. Ingram Inn of Court. Sarah will continue on at Fenwick & West as an associate after becoming a member of the California bar.
