On Nov. 6-7, Santa Clara Law will host leading legal scholars as they evaluate recent Supreme Court decisions involving international law against the backdrop of eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth-century precedents and historical developments. The conference, International Law in the Supreme Court: Continuity or Change?, is sponsored by the Center for Global Law and Policy at Santa Clara Law and will feature discussion of the history of international law in the Supreme Court from 1789 to 2000, as well as key Supreme Court cases decided in the past decade, evaluating those cases against the backdrop of the historical analysis. The revised conference papers will be collected in a book co-edited by David L. Sloss, Michael D. Ramsey and William S. Dodge, to be published by Cambridge University Press.

This conference brings together prominent experts in international law, legal history and constitutional law to discuss timely and important issues involving the domestic application of international law by the U.S. Supreme Court.
