In early December, the Charles Houston Bar Association (CHBA) held its 68th Annual Gala and honored Santa Clara Law students, Nikole Slaton JD ’23 and Alana Watson JD ’24, with Student Achievement Awards. Nikole is a 3L at Santa Clara Law who aspires to work at the intersection of tax and nonprofit law to progress philanthropic efforts. Alana is currently a 2L and is dedicated to representing artists’ rights and asset retention in the Art, Entertainment, and IP sphere. These awards provide scholarships for law students with extraordinary leadership skills, academic excellence, service, and commitment to advancing the causes that CHBA values.
The Charles Houston Bar Association represents the interests of African American attorneys throughout Northern California. Working diligently to implement the necessary programs and support mechanisms to increase access of African Americans to the justice system. The CHBA’s commitment to ensuring equal protection, representation, and advocacy for African Americans continues to fuel the fight toward a more just and equitable society.
Congratulations to our outstanding law students!
