Jessica Jackson JD ’11 went to the White House Summit on Prison Reform and is part of a group of people advancing the First Step Act, a significant bipartisan prison reform bill. The First Step Act scales approaches that worked in Texas and Rhode Island to move people out of prison faster, works to identify what reduces recidivism, gives pregnant women and new mothers protections against shackling (the Dignity Act), and has a focus on data-driven recidivism approaches.
