On April 12, Santa Clara University School of Law celebrated its 10th annual Day of Giving. This year’s theme – “Tip the Scales” – emphasized the importance of support for student scholarships, experiential learning opportunities, and more initiatives that empower students to complete their law school journey and meet the demands of a rapidly changing world. Many students expressed gratitude for financial assistance emphasizing: “But for this scholarship, I would not have been able to attend Santa Clara Law.” These law students will become the next generation of innovators, advocates, and leaders.

A number of matching gifts were made to key areas that were especially pivotal in motivating our community and alumni to give, and to keep the excitement going throughout the 24-hour Day of Giving. These included the Amicus Fund, the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center, Intellectual Property and High Tech programs, Law Student organizations, the Law Alumni Scholarship, the Lisa A. Kloppenberg & Mark R. Zunich endowed Law Scholarship Caricature Drawing at the Ice Cream Social 2023Fund, and the Dean’s Merit Scholarship. Along with these matching gifts, two new endowed scholarships were created through generous donations from members of the Law Advisory Board, demonstrating the inspirational potential of leadership giving.

An extremely grateful Dean Kaufman expressed his gratitude thus: “Your contributions will make it possible for us to reach our shared goal of ensuring that every one of our admitted students will be able to enroll and successfully graduate from Santa Clara University School of Law, regardless of their financial circumstances. Together, we are making our extraordinary Santa Clara legal education more affordable and accessible to students from all walks of life.”

The day was celebrated with an ice cream social at lunchtime on Panetta Plaza and fun with portraits drawn by a caricature artist.– a cool welcome on a warm day!
