Professor Sohi teaches first-year Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing (LARAW), first-year Critical Lawyering Skills (CLS), and is a faculty member in the Office of Academic & Bar Success (OABS). In his OABS advising role, Professor Sohi counsels students on a range of matters, including advising upper-division and directed study students on their course selection and graduation requirements, and working with first-year students as they adapt and transition to the law school learning environment.
As a part of the OABS faculty, Professor Sohi manages the School of Law’s pre-orientation program for newly admitted first-generation students. Professor Sohi also assists with Bar preparation programming and counseling, and he has taught Advanced Legal Writing: Bar Exam (ALW).
Prior to joining the Santa Clara Law faculty in 2018, Professor Sohi practiced law for 14 years, primarily as a defense attorney specializing in complex commercial civil litigation. After graduating from Santa Clara Law, he worked in private practice at Bingham McCutchen, representing Fortune 500 companies, technology companies, and financial and accounting institutions before federal, state, and appellate courts, as well as the Securities Exchange Commission. While in private practice, Professor Sohi also represented several pro bono clients, including individuals seeking asylum. Most recently, Professor Sohi worked with the Contra Costa County Counsel’s Office as a Deputy County Counsel, handling public entity litigation and civil rights matters. Professor Sohi also has taught Legal Research, Writing and Moot Court as an adjunct professor at UC Hastings College of the Law.
In his free time, Professor Sohi enjoys spending time with his two kids and coaching their t-ball and softball teams, and being an avid follower of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.
