Professor Capatos directs the first-year Academic Success Program (ASP), including supervising the upper-division ASP fellows, overseeing the ASP curriculum, facilitating workshops, and coordinating practice exams. As a part of the Academic & Bar Success faculty, she assists with Bar preparation programming.
Professor Capatos is available to counsel all students, but her focus is on working with first-year students as they adapt to the law school learning environment. She meets with students on a range of issues, including: transitioning to law school, effective learning strategies, exam-writing, and preparation for the Bar Exam.
Prior to entering the field of academic success, Professor Capatos specialized in appellate law. She clerked at the Arizona Court of Appeals and then represented the State of Arizona in criminal appeals as an Assistant Attorney General at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. Professor Capatos worked in academic success, teaching academic skills classes and counseling students, for two years before joining the Office of Academic & Bar Success at Santa Clara Law.
