NCIP exoneree Franky Carrillo Jr. is now featured in the Summer 2015 issue of Loyola Marymount University Magazine. In the article, “First Person: Freed at Last,” Carrillo Jr. shares his journey from wrongful conviction at age 16, to exoneration 20 years later, and currently, his life after freedom. Since his release in 2011, Carrillo Jr. has been a tireless advocate for criminal justice reform. He is a rising senior at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where he is pursuing his bachelor’s degree in sociology.

“I hope to live up to my high standard of adulthood, to act when others don’t and speak up on behalf of those who find themselves in need of a friend and advocate,” said Carrillo Jr.
