James Bain, 56, is celebrating a new chapter in his life – fatherhood. Bain spent 35 years in prison in Florida for a kidnapping and rape he didn’t commit. For years he requested DNA testing to prove his innocence and was denied because of technicalities. It wasn’t until 2009 that he was able to prove his innocence through DNA testing.
Although Bain hasn’t forgotten about the injustice he suffered, his new son, James Junior Bain, along with his wife, Mallelin, and stepdaughter, Nallely, are helping him settle into his new suburban life in Tampa, Florida. Bain plans to be open with his children about his time in prison when they are old enough and continues to raise awareness about the problem of wrongful conviction.
