Del Norte County District Attorney, Jon Alexander, is being investigated by the California State Bar for violating several rules of professional conduct.

Alexander allegedly took a $6,000 loan from a defense attorney and then dismissed a case being handled by that same attorney. Under the State Bar rules, Alexander should have recused himself from the case due to the conflict of interest. He is also accused of loaning a probation officer $14,000 in violation of ethical rules and speaking to a defendant without their attorney present.

Alexander has been suspended from practice twice for ethical violations and three times for failure to pay State Bar fees. He is currently on probation for an addiction to methamphetamine.
