Dear Friends,
GO BRONCOS!
The 13th Annual Day of giving is just a few weeks away — Wednesday, April 8, from midnight to 11:59 pm. On this day, our Santa Clara Law family, as well as the entire SCU community, will once again unite to make a meaningful difference for our students, schools, campus initiatives, and the many efforts on behalf of our Jesuit Mission.
Can’t wait until next month? Great news—you can get involved today!
- Spread the word by posting on social media so your friends, families, and colleagues can get involved, too. Day of Giving 2026 Toolkit
- Join in on the fun from noon to 1pm PST at Charney Hall where we’ll have a live DJ set, giveaways, special guest appearances, and on-site activities to support the cause!

Your support ensures that our Santa Clara Law family of students, faculty, staff-educators, and community partners can continue our important work of preparing future lawyers to lead with integrity and advocate for a more just, humane, and sustainable world.
Next Thursday, we will be celebrating the 2026 winner of the Katharine & George Alexander Law Prize, an award which recognizes legal advocates who have used their legal careers to help alleviate injustice and inequity. This year’s winner is Rachel Kafele, co-founder and Director of Programs & Advocacy at Oasis Legal Services.
Rachel co-founded Oasis in 2017 to empower low-income LGBTQ+ immigrants who have survived violence and persecution due to their sexuality, gender identity, and/or HIV status by increasing access to quality, culturally responsive legal representation and social services. She is a nationally recognized expert in LGBTQ+ immigration law and has taught and presented on a range of topics at the intersection of immigration, asylum law, and LGBTQ+ rights nationwide.
Please join me in congratulating Rachel for this well-deserved recognition and in celebrating the culture of giving, advocacy, and commitment to justice we have built and continue to grow at Santa Clara Law.
With warm regards and tremendous gratitude,
Michael J. Kaufman
