Should Lawyers—and Law Students—Be Using Generative AI, And, If So, How?

February 5 @ 12:05 pm - 1:00 pm

In his 2023 “Year-End Report on the Federal Judiciary,” Chief Justice Roberts referenced the increasing use of AI by lawyers, law professors, and laypeople interacting with various aspects of the legal system.  In May 2024, Stanford researchers published a study showing that “bespoke legal AI tools still hallucinate an alarming amount of the time.” And in July 2024, the ABA issued its first ethics guidance on the use of AI by lawyers. With all those developments in mind, join us for a panel discussion with SCU faculty and staff about ways to harness the benefits of generative AI tools while avoiding the pitfalls that come with their deployment in some key contexts.
