On April 10th, kicking off one of the warmest days of the year so far, the Santa Clara Law 2024 Day of Giving was one for the books! Broncos from near and far, came together to celebrate, serve and give generously to a community we are so proud to call home. Raising over $560,000 in just 24 hours, we are filled with amazement and gratitude for the overwhelming generosity of our Santa Clara community.
Special thanks goes to Dorian Daley and Michael Krautkramer, Andy and Jo Kryder, the Habbas Family, and Mita Datta for their incredibly generous and impactful matching gifts to key areas such as scholarships. These matching gifts, and all of our Law Advisory Board members who helped lead the charge, were especially pivotal in motivating our community and alumni to give, and to keep the excitement going throughout the 24-hour Day of Giving.
The Charney Hall Atrium was buzzing with excitement as those attending enjoyed the day’s festivities and celebrated the transformational impact of scholarships for students, clinics, research, and experiential learning opportunities.
Attendees gathered as special guests, Santa Clara Law Alumna Allison Stewart J.D. ’17, and her pup, Havoc, led an informative lunchtime talk covering some of the essential tools and tips for fool-proof strategies to increase your self-awareness and self-defense in public situations. Offering insight from her personal experiences as well as her background in Krav Maga, Allison shared her best pointers that can be used by anyone at any time.
With good vibes all around and some surprise visits from the pups of Santa Clara Law, the Atrium was joined by 5 caricature artists who brought out many smiles with their renditions of our favorite furry friends. Whether you picked your favorite photo or even brought in your pet to strike a pose for the artists, more than 165 caricatures were created along with some priceless memories.
Stationed right at the entrance of Charney Hall, attendees were welcomed with a fun game where they were challenged to estimate how many dog biscuits were in the jar. With guesses ranging from 50 to over 200, Jacob Watson and Max Gonzale came out on top and were both only off by one biscuit!
From our hearts to yours, the Santa Clara Law community is eternally grateful for your continuing support and commitment to our students and our Jesuit tradition. Ash Farrington, Director of Development, expressed her gratitude for the day: “The vibrant energy on our annual Day of Giving reverberated throughout the four corners of Charney Hall. To see the lively spirits of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni was a testament to the strength of our Santa Clara Law community. We share our heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions and collective support – on April 10th and always.”
