Thomas Tang Moot Court Team Winners

Congratulations to Janelle Barbier and Steven McKeever for winning Best Brief Award Nationally in Las Vegas at the Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition hosted by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association! This past weekend the team also participated in the National Competition and had the opportunity to present oral arguments in front of esteemed judges and practicing attorneys associated with NAPABA Law Foundation.

Priya Natarajan, competition manager and past competitor, organized the team, recruited coaches, and led the team!

The team also received the following awards from Regionals:

  • The team won Best Brief in the California Region
  • The team placed as the Regional Runner-up
  • Janelle Barbier won Best Oralist in the California Region

The team was coached by Dean Michael Kaufman, Professor Margalynne Armstrong, Professor Taylor Dalton, Professor Michael Flynn, Professor Procaccio-Flowers, Professor Scott Maurer, Professor Melody Sequoia, Professor Gary Spitko, Professor Kent Streseman, Professor Ruth Silver-Taube, Pami Vyas, who gave valuable feedback and unconditional support to the team! Prior student competitors, Kayla Dessel, Nathan Pope, and Michael Wang also shared their experiences and supported the team.

The alternate team, Nicholas Brosamle and Kami Dixon, competed in the Central/Eastern Regional 1 Competition the previous week.
