From celebrating the Inauguration of Doctor Julie Sullivan as the first woman and layperson to become President of Santa Clara University to the joyful festivities surrounding Grand Reunion, the week of jubilee capped off with Santa Clara University School of Law welcoming back over 150 alumni, friends, and family to Charney Hall for a Friday evening reception. As string lights shimmered across Panetta Plaza, alumni from all class years joined in the merriment of celebrating their fellow Law Broncos who graduated in years ending with 2 and 7.
The two-hour gathering themed as a year of “renewing, reliving, and rekindling,” also inducted those who celebrated 50 years since graduating from law school, into the Ruffo Society. Attendees: the Honorable Raymond “Ray” Davilla JD ‘72, the Honorable Robert “Skip” Durham JD ‘72, Aryeh Korthamar JD ‘72, James “Brian” Madden JD ‘72, the Honorable Phil Pennypacker JD ‘72, William “Bill” Pursley JD ‘72, G.E. “Ed” Rudloff Jr. JD ‘72, Steven D. Siner JD ‘72, Rodney J. Stafford JD ‘72, Daniel S. Standifer JD ‘72, and Alan Zapala JD ’72, represented an incoming class of Ruffo Society members, numbering 72 esteemed professionals. Their bonds to one another are living proof of how Santa Clara Law fosters meaningful communities that last well past graduation.
“It is nights like this that make you remember the unquantified weight of being a law graduate and member of this Bronco circle. We could not be prouder of our alums and their professional achievements since law school,” said Thi Tran J.D. ’21, Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. “The state of Santa Clara Law is optimistic. There is truly no better time to be a part of this momentous chapter at Santa Clara University and Santa Clara Law.”
