On Thursday, May 4 at 7:00 p.m. a free performance “Barred From Life” will be performed at the de Saisset Museum on the Santa Clara University campus. Created and performed by SCU Dance Program Director David J. Popalisky in collaboration with Cookie Ridolfi, (pictured at left) Director of the School of Law’s Northern California Innocence Project. Based on actual cases, Popalisky’s performance explores the tragically real but often-invisible stories of men and women wrongly convicted of crimes they did not commit, reflecting the work of the Northern California Innocence Project. This powerful performance integrates original music by True Rosaschi, dance movement, video imagery, and excerpts from interviews with exonerees, some who had been sentenced to death. Following the performance will be a discussion with exonerees along with Professors Cookie Ridolfi and David Popalisky. A reception will follow.
