Geoff Monahan will be speaking at a Faculty Workshop on Wednesday, September 27 from noon – 1:00 pm in the Strong Commons Room in Bergin Hall.  The topic of the workshop is "Relationship Breakdown and the Rights and Responsibilities of Unmarried Couples: The Australian Experience."

Geoff Monahan is a former legal practitioner who joined UTS in 1990. He has taught and researched in various areas including family and child law. He was the Foundation Director, Practical Legal Training Program (1996-1999) and Director, Undergraduate Law Program in 2003.

Geoff is currently a Deputy Chair of the Academic Board.

He has also been a visiting academic at a number of universities, including Cambridge University (St Edmunds College), Santa Clara University, University of Toronto, University of West of England (Bristol) and the University of Wollongong.

Associate Professor Monahan is also a member of various professional committees including the Family Issues Committee of the Law Society of NSW and the Examinations Committee of the NSW Legal Profession Admissions Board. In addition he is a vice-chair of the Academics Forum, International Bar Association.
