Washington set to review new wrongful conviction compensation law:
A new bill in the Washington state legislature would give exonerated defendants $50,000 per year of wrongful incarceration, with additional compensation for death row and sex crime exonerees. By comparison, California gives exoneratees $100 per day of incarceration or $36,500 per year.
