Course Description:

Students must attend a mandatory training class on the first Saturday of the semester.   Thereafter, students must spend between 25 hours (for 1 unit) assisting and advising unrepresented litigants at the Courthouse Self Help-Center, which is located at 201 North First Street, San Jose.   Students will provide this assistance under the supervision of an attorney on Wednesdays between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.   Students taking 1 unit do NOT need be available for the entire 11-3 time slot on Wednesdays; they only need to schedule approximately 2 hours per week during that slot.  Students may not take more than one interviewing and advising class in the same semester. Graded Credit/No Credit.

Experiential Course.

Credit/No Credit. Consumer/Debtors Practice Area. Students will remotely attend a mandatory training class on January 15.  Thereafter, students must log 25 hours assisting and advising unrepresented litigants, and performing related activity.   Students will provide this assistance under the supervision of an attorney.  Jan: 19, 26, Feb: 2, 9, 16, 23, Mar: 2, 16, 23, 30 Apr: 6, 13, 20. The clinic takes place between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Family Justice Center in downtown San Jose.
