Drug Policy Practicum: Cannabis Law and Policy

Course Description:

The legal status of cannabis in the United States, as well as public perception regarding the same, is evolving at a rapid pace. This class will cover a wide range of legal issues confronting businesses in the cannabis and hemp industries. The class will survey the legal challenges faced by the emerging markets for these substances, using California state as its state-level focal point. Topics surveyed in this class will include constitutional law, business law, intellectual property, tax, banking, bankruptcy, employment, Indian law, legal ethics, California cannabis regulatory law, and others.

Class Notes:

There will be no in-class exam. A final paper or series of papers will be required.
