The Santa Clara Law Review arranged its annual symposium for March 20, 2020 on the Santa Clara campus and almost a dozen of the leading sports law professors in the United States and top sports law lawyers were scheduled to talk about current “hot button” topics and recent issues in sports law and policy, including the new California “Fair Pay for Play” statutory scheme permitting California student athletes to be compensated by sponsors for use of their name, image and likeness. Other topics including NCAA infraction policies, athlete wellness, and compliance/risk management issues in college and university athletic programs. Thirteen professors and lawyers have or will be submitting articles for a print symposium issue, which is expected to be published this summer or fall. Professor Donald Polden assisted the Law Review Symposium editor and staff in planning this year’s symposium. Look for it on the Law Review website.
