Professor Kerry Lynn Macintosh, a member of the High Tech Law faculty, has published a new book entitled Enhanced Beings:  Human Germline Modification and the Law (Cambridge University Press 2018).  In the book, she explains that scientists are learning how to edit human gametes and embryos using CRISPR/Cas9 and other molecular tools.  For now, their experiments are confined to the lab; but in the future, their discoveries may help parents have babies with modified traits.  She discusses the implications of this emerging reproductive technology and critiques proposals to ban it. The book is available here.

Santa Clara Law will host a book signing by Kerry Macintosh on September 18, 2018. Read more.
