Anna Han wrote an article for the Daily Journal about China’s changing world role.

“Since last November’s election, China sees a vacuum in world leadership with the Trump administration’s avowed “America First” attitude and no articulated foreign policy beyond that. China is now positioning itself to take over that spot and be the first among equals. If the United States wants to pull out of the Paris Accord, China will step in to save it. If the United States is abandoning trade agreement such as the North American Free Trade Agreement and the TPP, China will finish the One Belt, One Road project. If the United States is pushing (Twitter) buttons and heightening tensions, then China will be the voice of calm and urge peaceful resolutions.”
