Santa Clara Law Brings Generative AI Curriculum to Students, Faculty, and Staff Through Partnership with Hotshot
The training continues Santa Clara Law’s strategic engagement with emerging technology
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Dec. 17, 2025— Santa Clara University School of Law has contracted with Hotshot, a learning platform for the legal industry, to bring generative AI (GenAI) training to its students, faculty, and staff. The custom, six-class curriculum covers the foundations of GenAI for legal practice, exploring a range of topics such as legal applications of large language models, effective prompting, and ethics and professional responsibility. Students who complete the curriculum will earn a certificate of completion that can be shared on LinkedIn. The Santa Clara Law community will also have access to additional AI-focused courses offered on Hotshot’s platform.
The Hotshot GenAI curriculum will be mandatory for 1L students and incorporated into Santa Clara Law’s “Critical Lawyering Skills” 1L course this spring, and it will then be deployed to the entire law school community.
This partnership is part of Santa Clara Law’s multifaceted strategy for approaching emerging technologies with curiosity, thoughtfully integrating AI into its activities, and equipping everyone across the law school with the tools they need to navigate the legal landscape in this new era.
