SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 22, 2026—California Governor Gavin Newsom recently announced his appointment of several justices and judges, including Mary Procaccio-Flowers, J.D.’12, who will serve as a judge on the Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Procaccio-Flowers graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law summa cum laude in 2012 and returned to the school as an Adjunct Lecturer in 2019, teaching a course in patent and trade secret litigation.

From 2020 to 2025, Procaccio-Flowers served as an Assistant Clinical Professor, teaching among other courses, Legal Research, Analysis, and Writing; Evidence; IP Litigation; and Advocacy. In spring 2025, Procaccio-Flowers transitioned into an Adjunct Professor role to teach Jury Law and Comparative Jury Systems and other courses.

“We are immensely proud of our alumna and colleague, Judge Mary Procaccio-Flowers,” said Santa Clara Law Dean Michael J. Kaufman, “and we are grateful that she will continue to devote her life to public service as a jurist with remarkable competence, conscience, compassion, wisdom, and grace.”

Prior to joining Santa Clara Law, Procaccio-Flowers worked in private practice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, representing technology companies in intellectual property litigation before federal, state, and appellate courts, as well as the International Trade Commission. Procaccio-Flowers also regularly advised companies regarding the impact of intellectual property and intellectual property litigation on a variety of corporate transactions.

In 2019 and 2020, Procaccio-Flowers served as a judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. In January 2025, Procaccio-Flowers rejoined the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California to serve as a full-time career law clerk.
