The Luminary Award Recognizes Community Law Center Supervising Attorney

SANTA CLARA, Calif., -- The Katharine & George Alexander Community Law Center (KGACLC) is proud to announce that Supervising Attorney Ruth Silver Taube has been honored with the Luminary Award at the 8th Annual Santa Clara County Women’s Leadership and Policy Summit, held in partnership with Supervisor Betty Duong, San José State University, and the Valley Health Foundation.

The Luminary Award recognizes an individual for a lifetime of achievement and for illuminating a path toward social justice, advancing women’s rights, and strengthening the community. The plaque presented to Silver Taube reads “In recognition of her visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to social justice, workers’ rights, and the fight against human trafficking. Your light continues to inspire and guide others toward a more just world.”

This year’s Summit brought together leaders, advocates, and community members to address the urgent need for collective action in the face of challenges such as rising food insecurity, threats to education, and cuts to healthcare.

In accepting the award, Silver Taube stated, “I am honored to receive this award and grateful to Supervisor Duong and the Santa Clara County Women’s Leadership & Policy Summit. The award is a testament to the support, guidance, and inspiration I received from the Law Center staff and attorneys, community organizations and coalitions with whom I collaborate, Santa Clara County, and the low-wage workers we serve at the Law Center.”

Silver Taube’s career at KGACLC has been defined by decades of advocacy for low-wage workers, immigrants, and victims of trafficking, embodying the spirit of service and justice that the Luminary Award celebrates.
