
Professor Kinyon directs Santa Clara's Office of Academic & Bar Success. He oversees the first-year Critical Lawyering Skills 1 course, upper-division Directed Study and UP Point advising, the Legal Analysis course, and Bar Exam preparation at the Law School, including Advanced Legal Writing: The Bar Exam. Professor Kinyon has an active counseling portfolio. He meets with students on a range of issues, including: transitioning to law school, effective learning strategies, exam-writing, and preparation for the Bar Exam. Professor Kinyon teaches the Bar Exam Planning Workshop, Property, and Community Property. He is the co-director of programming for first-generation students, and advises the LGBTQ+ and older student/second career law student organization.
Prior to coming to Santa Clara, Professor Kinyon worked in service-learning, leadership development, and transitional programs at UC Berkeley. As a law student, he represented low-wage workers in USF’s Employment Law Clinic, and received CALI Awards for Excellence in Poverty Law and Rebellious Lawyering seminars. He has also taught at USF, which awarded him the 2023 Hon. Ira A. Brown Adjunct Faculty Award.
