
Professor Capatos serves as director of Santa Clara Law’s Office of Academic & Bar Success. She oversees the Critical Lawyering Skills Mentor program, which pairs each first-year law student with an upper division peer mentor. She also develops academic and bar skills courses such as Performance Test Workshop and the FlexJD program’s Critical Lawyering Skills 1. In addition to her administrative and teaching roles, Professor Capatos provides one-on-one advising to students on a wide range of topics including: transitioning to law school, effective learning strategies, exam-writing, and preparation for the Bar Exam. Professor Capatos teaches Critical Lawyering Skills 1, Criminal Procedure: Adjudication, Criminal Procedure: Investigation, Legal Analysis, and Performance Test Workshop.
Prior to teaching, Professor Capatos specialized in appellate law. She clerked at the Arizona Court of Appeals and then represented the State of Arizona in criminal appeals as an Assistant Attorney General at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
