We are a non-profit organization, as defined by our 501(c)(3) status. Our dual mission is to provide free legal services to the underserved in Santa Clara County while educating Santa Clara University law students in accordance to the highest standards. We have been doing this for 20 years.
As a non-profit organization, we depend on a number of financial sources to cover our operational budget. Every year, we must apply for and secure funding from the following sources, among others:
- State, county and city grants
- Foundation grants
- Cy pres awards
- KGACLC attorneys’ fees
- Contributions from individuals
- Financial support from the SCU School of Law
During any financial crisis, non-profit organizations like the Alexander Community Law Center take the brunt of the severe cuts imposed by an almost automatic drop in local government and private funds, donor contributions and other sources of money.
Although we continuously seek to contain and reduce our operational costs, our savings are simply not enough to stay ahead of the challenging financial reality we face every day. Please help us keep our doors open to the many needs of our community.
