How to Do Good AI and Data Science (By Living Your Ethics)

Guest Speaker:  DJ Patil, Former Chief Data Scientist of the United States, Chief Data Scientist at Devoted Health

DJ Patil served as the the first Chief Data Scientist of the United States. His efforts led to the establishment of nearly 40 Chief Data Officer roles across the Federal government, as well as to the establishment new health care programs (including the Precision Medicine Initiative and the Cancer Moonshot) and new criminal justice reforms (including the Data-Driven Justice and Police Data Initiatives).

In this talk, DJ Patil will address the juncture between ethical ideas and practice in the field of data science, and the urgent need for the development of corporate cultures that embed considerations of fairness, the proper use of data, and the harm that can be done by inappropriate use of data, as key parts of product development.
