David Dolkas is a partner with the Silicon Valley office of McDermott Will & Emery and co-chair of that office’s IP Litigation Group. Mr. Dolkas concentrates his practice on patent litigation, but has handled a wide-variety of cases over the course of his career, including, trade secret, trademark, unfair competition and complex commercial and property liability litigation. He has extensive trial experience representing clients in numerous jury trials involving intellectual property, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract and product liability. Mr. Dolkas has served as lead counsel and has successfully represented defendant-companies in high-stakes punitive damages jury trials. He has tried numerous jury trials and over 100 arbitrations.
Mr. Dolkas has written and instructed extensively on the topic of managing complex IP litigation. He has instructed various bar associations and other law related groups across the country on this topic, including the United States Department of Justice, the Defense Research Institute, the American Intellectual Property Lawyers Association, and the State Bar of California.
Mr. Dolkas received his law degree from the University of San Diego School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Loyola Marymount University. He has served as an instructor at Santa Clara University School of Law since 2002.
