David Freedman

David Freedman, now retired from active practice, was a manager and later a director in the Symantec Corporation legal department, supervising a team of corporate and senior corporate counsels engaged in Symantec’s enterprise global software sales and services businesses. Symantec’s enterprise security business, acquired by Broadcom, Inc., provides industry-leading cybersecurity solutions for the enterprise.

Prior to Symantec, he was managing counsel at Remedy Corporation, then director of legal affairs at Applicast, Inc., a start-up and application service provider. He subsequently joined the law department at Veritas Software Corporation, a global leader in enterprise storage and data management, currently Veritas Technologies, and then the Symantec law department following the Veritas and Symantec merger.

He earned his Juris Doctor from Lincoln University Law School, San Francisco, CA, and his undergraduate Bachelor of Arts from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He is an active member of the California bar.

Professor Freedman has taught the “Critical Lawyering Skills” course at Santa Clara University School of Law since Spring 2019 and has taught the ExPro Workshop class.
