David Freedman most recently was in-house counsel at Symantec Corporation negotiating technology transactions related primarily to software licensing and information security. Previous to Symantec, he served as managing counsel at Remedy Corporation then joined Veritas Software Corporation, currently Veritas Technologies, a global leader in data storage management software. He joined Symantec Corporation following the Veritas and Symantec merger.
While at Symantec, as a director in the Symantec legal department, he managed a team of senior corporate counsel in support of Symantec’s global software services business, including software-as-a-service, consulting, education, managed services, global license compliance and public sector legal support for the U.S and Canada.
He earned his J.D. from Lincoln University Law School and his undergraduate BA from Ohio University. He is an active member of the California bar.
Freedman retired from Symantec Corporation in 2016. In 2019 and 2020, he taught the “Critical Lawyering Skills” course, and the ExPro Workshop in 2019 at Santa Clara University School of Law.
