Paige Kaneb is a Supervising Attorney at the Northern California Innocence Project. She works closely with SCU law students to provide effective pro bono representation to innocent people, many of whom have spent decades incarcerated for crimes they did not commit. Since joining the innocence project in 2007, Paige has helped to free and exonerate 15 innocent men and women, who together were imprisoned for over 200 years for crimes they did not commit. Paige teaches students how to provide the same kind of creative, strategic, and effective litigation in their own practice. As a result of her litigation and scholarship, she is frequently asked to speak at conferences and provides consultations to advocates around the country on wrongful convictions, “shaken baby syndrome,” and actual innocence as a constitutional claim. Prior to working at the Northern California Innocence Project, she worked for the Institute for Global Justice researching ways to sue and prosecute oil companies and banks associated with extreme human rights abuses.
