Exoneree Jarrett Adams, 34, who served 10 years in prison for a wrongful rape conviction, recently graduated from Loyola University Chicago Law School. At 17 years old, Adams was falsely accused of rape in Wisconsin. Despite maintaining his innocence since his arrest, Adams was convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison. While he was in prison, Adams studied the law and wrote to attorneys at the Wisconsin Innocence Project, who ultimately took on his case. In 2007, Adams was released from prison and exonerated of all charges.

Just one month after his release, Adams began studying at community college. After graduating from Roosevelt University with honors, he pursued his legal education at Loyola University Chicago Law School, where he received his law degree in May. Adams plans on working for low-income defendants and the wrongfully convicted.

“His character is flawless. He did not allow his past to define him,” said Loyola University Chicago Law School faculty member, Josie Gough.

Congratulations, Jarrett Adams, on this incredible accomplishment!
