Civil Practice/High Tech/Social Justice (CP/HT/SJ):
Students interested in civil practice, high tech law, and social justice find placements in public interest agencies, private law offices, government agencies, corporate departments, high tech companies, or non-profits.
CP/SJ/HT externs must enroll in LAW 590 (if this is your first externship) or LAW 597 (if this is your second or third externship).
Judicial:
A judicial externship allows students to experience life in the courtroom as they assist judges and law clerks with deciding the disputes before the court. The opportunity to understand the legal process from the judge’s chambers is an extremely unique and valuable opportunity.
Judicial externs must enroll in LAW 594B (for part-time judicial externships, first externship), LAW 594C (for full-time judicial externships, first externship), or LAW 670 (if this is your second or third externship).
Criminal:
Criminal justice externships take place in a District Attorney’s Office, Public Defender’s Office, or firm or organization with the practice of criminal law as its primary focus.
Criminal justice externs must enroll in LAW 591A (if this is your first externship) or LAW 561 (if this is your second or third externship).
