Over winter break, five members of Santa Clara Law’s Black Law Students Association attended the Western Region Conference hosted by the Western Region Black Law Students Association (WRBLSA) Conference. During the course of this 4-day professional conference, students networked with black and minority lawyers,  volunteered for a community service event, attended distinguished panel discussions, and participated in a regional board meeting.

1L Simone Chambliss was elected to serve as Vice Chair of the Western Region Black Law Students Association Board. She will be representing Santa Clara Law and the Western Region at the National Black Law Students Association Conference held in Houston, Texas this March.

Furthermore, in recognition of their outstanding achievements and student engagement this past year, Santa Clara Law’s BLSA chapter was honored as Chapter of the Year for the Western Region. Our chapter’s most notable events included a student-moderated panel, “Incarceration Conversation” and our involvement in the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League (SVUDL). These events, in addition to a tremendous growth in membership, contributed to this recognition.
