This year marks the 24th Annual Computer & High Technology Law Journal Symposium. Over the years, the Journal has hosted symposia devoted to many current, pivotal issues at the intersection of law and technology. In 2006, the Computer & High Tech Law Journal Symposium will address the issue of data privacy in the information age.
Protection of personal data and preservation of privacy stand as two great tests to our increasingly globalized society. New advancements in technology allow companies and governments to easily aggregate and transmit personal information as well as track activity and movement. This has provided them tangible benefits in an increasingly competitive marketplace and uncertain political climate. However, consumers are often unaware of both the use of this information and the consequences of its disclosure. These rapid advances challenge legislators and policymakers to keep pace to protect data privacy.
The Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal has assembled a highly distinguished group of practitioners, policy makers, and scholars together to discuss the growing issues surrounding data privacy in the information age. On
The symposium will take place in the Rotunda of San Jose’s new City Hall. The day long symposium features four moderated panels. MCLE credit is available for attendance at the symposium.
